Real Time Information

Today I used the Olympic Park website to Plan a journey from Doncaster to Olympic Park.

I found this task of getting to London, quite challenging as I do not use train websites.
It was difficult to discover which website would be accurate and I found that they all had contridicting times.
In the end I used the route planner on the official Olympic website which had completely different times, compared to that of websites like NetworkRail etc.
I found that using google maps to plan the journey for thecar would be much more efficient and cheaper by over £20. From this I know that live information is a possibly easier to find, however once you obtain the information, it is hard to gather it together to plan your journey.
I have never used the internet to book train tickets, just look up times so for me this task as a little challenging.

How Email Works

How Email Works?
Emails are electronic messages which are quick and easy way to send, receive and create. You create an email and then send it but what is the process?
MUA: (Mail using Agent)  MUA is a term for an application on which you can send, read or create emails in, this could be Microsoft Outlook, Hotmail or Google mail.
MDA: (mail Delivery Agent) A term for the management for an email transfer between two email senders, MDA’s operate behind a firewall, so if an email fails to send, then an administrator can find the source to the problem.
MTA: (Mail Transfer Agent) A term for the email transfer applications such as Q-mail, A conformation can be then confirmed by the admin of the email user to detect whether or not an email has been sent to the receiver’s MTA.
There are six simple steps in to sending an email:
Step 1: Creating and Sending the email.
The original sender creates and sends an email using their MUA. (Mail using Agent)
Step 2:The MDA routes to the MTA.
MUA transfers the email to the MDA, which can hold the same responsibilities of an MTA by which an admin will check where the MDA is being sent to and will find th address of the MTA to be sent to.
Step 3: Network Clouds
The MTA enters a series of different network ‘clouds’. This is called a Company Network. The network cloud can be slow as it is hosted on the internet and can be slow due to a heavy flow of constant emails etc. This is why it can take longer for some emails to arrive than others.
Some mails encounter spam filters so certain messages aren’t filtered through to your inbox.
Step 4: Email Queue.
The emails are then forwarded to the MDA where the emails ‘queue’ until all of the other emails are forwarded to the MTA.
Step 5:MTA to MDA.
When the email is sent the MTA handles all aspects of mail delivery until the message has been either accepted or rejected by the receiving network.
Step 6: Finally Delivered.
An email may be transferred to more than one MTA within a network cloud and is likely to be passed to at least one firewall before it reaches it's destination.

Conformation communication

I had to book train tickets for my mother for the weekend. After using the Internet to find the best price I brought them online and had a conformation email sent to my email address so I knew that they were booked and sorted.

Communication via email.

I used email communication today to email photos of family to my grandparents. I used email to do this because I wanted to have a fast, reliable way of forwarding pictures, which costs me nothing. Emailing these pictures is more financially beneficial to me, as picture messaging costs more.
Email is a better way of communicating long distance as calling family can cost alot, especially if they live in another country like some of mine do.

Twitter Communications via tweets and messages.

I used several functions on twitter.
I used private messages to communicate with my friends. It is much easier to use the Internet to communicate with my friends because it is free and does not cost anything.
I used what you call a 'tweet' to 'tag' my friends to communicate publicly. This means anyone who 'follows' me or my friend can see our conversations. This can be useful to relay messages about school or our social life to all of our friends, for example one friend can tag me and another can comment regarding our conversations and join in if they wish to do so.

First time Blogger!

Today I used Microsoft email to mail everyone my blog address, I used Microsoft outlook to group everyone's email accounts together, in order to send them my own address and link to my blog.
It is easy to use microsoft to email other students my blogger account because it would be harder to shout out loud the link as there would be one big commotion and you may not get everyone's username.

Communication via messaging.

I used Facebook mail to keep in touch with family members across the globe, I prefer using Facebook messaging over email, for example because my family can reach me anytime as Facebook is delivered straight to my phone, IPad and iPod. I prefer to use Facebook messaging over email because then you can tell if the message has been 'seen'. The new 'seen at X o'clock' feature is handy for me as my family and I have different time zones, and it shows when they will or will not reply immediately.
